A relatively large number of Tampico Eagles are found unused. This is particularly true for the medio real stamps.
Several of the scarce foreign mail items from the Eagle period originated in Tampico, most often routed through Veracruz.
Some 2R stamps are found without the district name overprint. However, some stamps have been found where a small part of the name is visible, but weakly struck. It is therefore possible that the name is not truly omitted, but simply struck so lightly that it is invisible to the naked eye.
All Tampico 8R stamps are scarce to rare. The 8R 62-1865 may not exist and perhaps only 227 of invoice 218-1864 were sold. The 8R from 145-1864 is more available, but still very difficult.
