According to John Bash (Mexicana, January 1985, p. 17), the 2,000 medio real stamps received under invoice 44-1866 was more than required for normal use on circulars. Therefore, many were used on regular letters, resulting in an unusually high survival rate. Pairs and even strips of four, both on and off cover, turn up with some frequency.
The medio real from invoice 122-1866 may be difficult to find, since perhaps only 160 were actually used, though it's unknown if any stamps from invoice 44-1866 were among the returns.
